❓ How It Works
What is the challenge?
Push-Up Challenge measures the highest number of valid, consecutive push-ups you can complete in one session. Your camera and on-device pose detection count each repetition automatically — no manual input.
How does camera tracking work?
We use your webcam and a technology called MediaPipe, which runs entirely inside your browser. It detects the position of your shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and other body landmarks in real time. No video is ever uploaded or saved — everything happens locally on your computer.
What counts as a push-up?
A valid push-up requires a complete cycle: starting near the top (arms extended), moving down until your elbows bend past a set angle, then pushing back up to the top position. Partial movements, small wiggles, or standing up don't count.
How should I position my camera?
Place your laptop so the camera sees your whole body from a side angle, about 2-3 meters away. Make sure the room is well lit and there's nothing blocking your body from view.
Why was my rep not counted?
This usually happens when tracking quality is low (poor lighting, body partially out of frame) or the movement wasn't deep enough to register as a full push-up. Watch the tracking status indicator — if it says "Poor" or "Body Not Detected," adjust your position.
How does the leaderboard work?
The leaderboard ranks players by their highest valid push-up score, highest first. Without an online database configured, the leaderboard only reflects scores saved on this device. Once Firebase is connected, it becomes a shared, global leaderboard.
